Quilt Preparation

Quilt Preparation Requirements

For Best Longarm Quilting Outcomes

  • Mark the top of the quilt top and the back each with masking tape.
  • Please be sure that the top and back are clean, press all seams, and remove extra threads, pins, or basting.
  • Make sure that your quilt back (and batting if you are providing it)  is at least 5 inches larger than your top on all sides.
  • It is best if you stitch a 1/8 seam around the edge if it is heavily pieced  to protect the outer edge seams.
  • Make sure the quilt top and back is square before submitting it for quilting.
  • If there are wavy borders, or is fullness in the middle of the quilt, the quilting may not fix this. I cannot promise that tucks and pleats will not occur during quilting. Please sew your seams with accuracy, and press and trim throughout your sewing process.
  • Include fabric for binding if required, and include any special instructions that might be helpful (i.e. Please make the quilting tight).
  • Quilting order form can be completed in person by appointment.
  • If mailing the quilt, print and complete quilt order form and include with the quilt.
